The wider adoption of laser cutting has given manufacturers much greater freedom to develop customized metal products. Compared with conventional punch-press production, laser cutting offers faster setup, shorter lead times and far lower minimum order quantities. Whether a buyer needs five units for evaluation or fifty units for a small market launch, production can be arranged without investing in dedicated tooling. Switching to a different design is also straightforward because the cutting program can be changed digitally.
This flexibility has helped the market for stainless steel craft products and small consumer goods grow rapidly over the past five years. Designers can test an idea, collect customer feedback and refine the product before committing to large-volume production.

More Than a Material Supplier
As a stainless steel material supplier, our responsibility should go beyond delivering sheet, strip or coil. We also want to help customers identify practical ways to develop products, respond to market demand and create additional orders.
That is why Still Steel shares manufacturing ideas, market observations and product trends alongside material information. A good material choice becomes more valuable when it is connected to a product that can be manufactured efficiently and sold successfully.
A 1.2 mm 304 Stainless Steel Design
The phone stand shown here is a recent product concept made from 1.2 mm 304 stainless steel. Its clean metallic appearance works well with modern interior styles, while the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel makes it suitable for normal outdoor environments as well as indoor use.
For coastal locations, swimming-pool areas or other chloride-rich environments, 316 or 316L stainless steel may be a better choice. Surface finish, edge treatment and regular cleaning should also be considered when a product will remain outdoors for long periods.
The structure is particularly well suited to laser cutting because the profile, slots and decorative details can be produced from sheet material in the same operation. The design can also be supplied flat or partly assembled, reducing transport volume and giving the end user a simple, satisfying assembly experience.
Customization Opportunities
The decorative pattern in the illustration is shown only as a visual reference. Brands and manufacturers should use original artwork or properly licensed graphics and respect the intellectual property rights of other designers.
The same basic structure can be adapted with:
- A customer logo or original graphic pattern
- Different surface finishes, including brushed, mirror or colored PVD finishes
- Modified viewing angles and phone-support dimensions
- Retail packaging and flat-pack assembly instructions
- Small trial orders before volume production
